Short Note Corrections for Problems Concerning the Scattering of Elastic Waves from Planar Welded Interfaces

چکیده
Equations describing the scattering of plane elastic waves from planar interfaces separating homogeneous and isotropic elastic media are complicated by mode conversions. This complexity has historically led to numerous publications containing erroneous solutions or misprints, many of which have been recognized. This article provides corrections for several additional related errors that have been noticed in the literature but not previously reported.

Shear Waves Through Non Planar Interface Between Anisotropic Inhomogeneous and Visco-Elastic Half-Spaces
A problem of reflection and transmission of a plane shear wave incident at a corrugated interface between transversely isotropic inhomogeneous and visco-elastic half-spaces is investigated. Applying appropriate boundary conditions and using Rayleigh’s method of approximation expressions for reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained for the first and second order approximation of the...
متن کاملReflection and Scattering by a Slightly Undulatinginterface
However, in reality most interfaces are not planar on both micro and macro scales. The purpose of this study is to investigate the interaction between elastic waves and a slightIy non-planar interface. The method of asymptotic analysis is used to derive elose form solutions for the problem of reflection and scattering of a time-harmonic SH-wave at a slightly, but otherwise arbitrarily, non-plan...
متن کاملHELICITY AND PLANAR AMPLITUDES IN PION-PROTON SCATTERING AT 6.0 GeV/c
In addition to optimal conditions, invariant laws of Lorentz, parity and time reversal are imposed to find the relation between observables (spin rotation parameters) and bilinear combination of helicity amplitudes in pion-proton elastic scattering at 6.0 GeV/c. By normalizing the differential cross-section to unity, the magnitudes of helicity amplitudes and the angle between them are dete...
متن کاملA New Theorem Concerning Scattering of Electromagnetic Waves in Multilayered Metamaterial Spherical Structures
The proposed theorem in this paper is indicative of a kind of duality in the propagation of waves in the dual media of and in the spherical structures. Independent of wave frequency, the number of layers, their thickness, and the type of polarization, this theorem holds true in case of any change in any of these conditions. Theorem: Consider a plane wave incident on a multilayered spheric...
متن کاملJointed Rock Mass Effects on the Seismic Waves Scattering from the Canyon Sites in the Dam's Support
Seismic study of canyon sites has always been one of the important fields of seismic studies because of massive structures such as dams that are built in such sites. Jointed rock mass in rock canyon sites is one of the main site effects that can change the seismic waves. In this research, we studied the influence of this factor on the scattering of seismic waves. To fulfil this goal, we employe...
